Description
What an iconic car. Someone argue the first of the sports sedans. Road and Track love the car when they first tested it. They maintained nearly 100 miles an hour for long distances out in the deserts of the Western US. These cars were raced extensively around the world and still are a crowd favorite at places such as the Goodwood Revival.
This 3.8 Mark II started off its life with the mushy Borg Warner 3-speed automatic as so many US models did. It was recently converted to a five-speed manual gearbox using the exceptional conversion kit from The Driven Man LLC
www.TheDrivenMan.com
She spent most of her life in California which explains the nearly rust free body. The paint is very weak from age and the interior is acceptable for a driver. The seats have been recovered at some point in vinyl. The color and the pattern are correct but originally this would have been leather. When converted to the five-speed she received an aluminum flywheel also from The Driven Man. The combination of the light flywheel and the five-speed gearbox really brought this car to life. She picks up revs quickly, accelerates briskly and is at home at modern interstate speeds and more.
It runs and drives well. There is some looseness in the steering which should be corrected before extended use. Tires are brand new. She has had a recent oil change and service.
If you are looking for a nice driving Mark II at a bargain price here's your car. A few tweaks and a repaint would turn this into an exceptional or even daily driver.
