Description
1974 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Only two owners since new. Been in the same town in southern Tennessee since the day it was new. Wonderfully straight and solid body.
She has a fantastic body, and other than one repaint appears to be all original 1974 GM. The paint is glossy but there are a some nicks and blems in the paint as you would expect in a car this age. This car spent several decades out of the public eye in the owner's garage. She now has a new radiator and hoses, rebuilt original carburetor, rebuilt brakes and is ready for a new home. The 350 engine runs well. It is smooth, cool, has good oil pressure and does not rattle or show other bad habits. The engine compartment is neat and relatively clean and not oily or greasy, but no attempts have been made to make it prettier as the new owner may want to upgrade to an LS. The steering is tight and smooth. She rides and drives well. The brakes are smooth and linear. The tires have plenty of tread left but absolutely need to be replaced.
The seats are in excellent original condition and there are no cracks in the dash pad. The door panels show some age but overall very nice. The carpet is very good. The headliner is in good condition with some minor staining. The 1974 General Motors plastic trim on the A pillars and around the headliner is the weakest part of the car's interior.
If you are looking for a classic Monte Carlo in a very cool '70s color come take a look at this one. It would be excellent candidate for a little cosmetic work or a great basis for a very good resto mod.
