Description

Gorgeous all aluminum recreation of the 1953 Le Mans winning Jaguar C Type; the first car to win that 24 hour race on disc brakes. This car was handcrafted in England about 12 years ago. The workmanship is exceptional and all of the alloy bodywork was hand rolled by Shape Craft of Northampton, England. This same company produces the bodies for the $2,000,000 Aston Martin factory continuation DB4GT.

Do not underestimate this lady. She may be curvy and beautiful, but this is no delicate flower. This car was designed to be driven and driven with enthusiasm. The tubular framework is exceedingly strong. The 4.2 engine is reliable, flexible, powerful and robust. This car can be driven anywhere, anytime, any distance. This very car has already driven the Le Mans course and the Goodwood Circuit in England.

The tubular framework is very similar to the original Jaguar factory race car's but upgraded to accept the famous Jaguar 4 shock independent rear suspension with inboard disc brakes and coil over front suspension using Jaguar control arms and 4 piston disc brakes.

Power is provided by a very healthy 4.2 litre Jag XK engine fed by triple Weber carburetors, and the sound ripping from the stainless steel exhaust is nothing short of epic. The engine wears the 1950s style smooth polished aluminum cam covers complete with crankcase breather as found on the original 1953 factory cars. This is backed up by a 5 speed gearbox. The engine runs beautifully, cool and has excellent oil pressure.

With approximately 300 BHP and only 2,100 pounds to move this Jaguar is exceedingly quick. The good sized disc brakes have no trouble quickly slowing this lightweight racer. Rack and pinion steering is sharp and accurate.

The interior, like the original C Type's, is all business. Since they were designed as race cars the philosophy was "if you don't need it to drive fast it's not here." The green leather race seats are very much like the originals. There is complete set of Smiths instrumentation, a starter button, headlamp dip button and a few pull switches for headlamps, fuel pump and roundel lamps. That's it. There are 2 Brooklands windscreens and a low profile plexi shield to deflect the wind. The driver and passenger are secured by 4 point racing harnesses. There is an external battery shutoff with removable key.

If you are looking for an exceedingly gorgeous and rare sports car that offers an unadulterated driving experience and excites all of your senses there are precious few which could even come close to this.
