Description

C55 Baby Hammer – This is a professionally built and restored custom AMG. She has the rock solid feel of a classic Benz from her nicely weighted steering to the solid thud when you close the doors. All of that paired with more than 350 normally aspirated horsepower makes for a very pleasurable and tactile machine. New cars cannot replicate that feel. Power, handling, braking, no nonsense Teutonic class and build quality all in a 25 year old Mercedes Benz, and that mean you can use it as a daily driver or insure it as an “antique” for next to nothing.

She started life as one of just 579 C43 AMG's produced for the US market that year. She was purchased by a Mercedes Benz the master mechanic in 2011 with 139k miles on the odometer and in 2013 it underwent significant cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment. The 5.4L AMG M113 V8 came from a 2001 E55 AMG with 129k miles at the time of swap. This engine was completely rebuilt including some mild performance upgrades by its Mercedes Master Tech owner. It is buttery smooth. He invested over $11,000 ( at his dealer employee cost) in new parts into the upgrade and restoration.

Equipment includes heated and 10-way power-adjustable and heated sport seats, 17” AMG Monoblock wheels, H&R sport springs, xenon headlamps, a rain-sensing wiper, heated windscreen washer system, and a sunroof. Included records show complete documentation of the 5.4L engine swap with thorough rebuild details and notes regarding the donor engine, complete service history under current ownership, and a complete parts list purchased and installed by the seller. She has thorough documentation, three keys, manufacturer's literature, an included Carfax report, and a clean Georgia title.

It is finished in Silver Arrow Metallic (777) and the paint is smooth and glossy. The body features a sculpted AMG body kit with more aggressive styling on the front spoiler, side skirts and rear apron.

Factory staggered 17” AMG Monoblock wheels are finished in silver with machined lip. She has Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires measuring 225/45 up front and 245/40 out back with 2015 date codes up front and 2022 date codes in the rear. The car has been fitted with H&R springs to minimize wheel gap and body roll.

The interior is trimmed in Graphite/Anthracite AMG Exclusive Leather (581) with a matching steering wheel and door panels. Burled walnut trim accents the dashboard, doors, and center console. The wood, leather ,carpet and headliner are all excellent. Top of the line 1998 luxuries include ABS brakes, heated front seats, automatic climate control, auto-dimming mirrors, and a modern Continental head unit featuring amber backlighting and bluetooth capabilities. It has white AMG instrument dials. Digital readouts display the time and outside temperature while the digital odometer shows just over 178k miles on the chassis. All pixels and backlighting function as intended. The glass is tinted with ceramic tint featuring UV blocking and heat reduction technology. The cabin is pre-wired for Passport Radar detectors and has been professionally lined with Dynamat for noise insulation. She's a bank vault.

If you are looking for a sleeper, a modern classic or you have a real hankering for a classic AMG Hammer sedan, but don't have it in the budget, then this may just be the Benz for you!
